A fair inquiry.

I thought NHL players had like no down time during the season...how did you guys go to Vegas? I'm just wondering. I'm not saying you didn't. Just wondering how much time NHL players get off and how long they spend at the rink/gym a day. It just seems if he is a good enough player to play in the NHL then he would be very busy. Anywho congrats! I wanted to take a minute to touch on this great question from Cailey; thanks for asking! Okay, so depending on game schedules you are correct in the no down time thing. Down time occurs during a few instances in the NHL being the following: 1) NHL All Star Break, which we are on beginning today- its about 4 days of down time where players fly home to see families or go to exotic places for a quick little vacation. Mr. Right and I are actually heading to Cabo for a few days leaving tomorrow morning. Its a mini honey-moon of sorts. 2) NHL players celebrate something called rookie night which without giving too much information away is about two days where if you're playing well the coach frees you of skating duties and you kind of "haze" the rookies on the team- rookies foot the bill for everything. Depending on your teams locations you head off to a whole bunch of locations for this to happen. When I was with Mr. Right #1 the first time the team he played for went to Montreal and got a little crazy. This time around its a different team and location wise the boys were able to go to Vegas. One night rookie night, the other is a party and play kind of night. The girlfriends and wives often head to said location for party and play night... then stay after the guys leave and have a spa girls day. So we both spent two days in Vegas, him with the guys, one together then he left. Me with him (marriage) and the next with the girls! I'm not sure how time off works for other teams, but our team usually has Sundays off- if you've been traveling a lot or playing well you get Monday off also. If the entire team is game to travel somewhere for rookie night than they fire up the jet and head off. Its pretty common. Hope that answers your question a bit. Also, players usually are at the rink about 4-5 hours a day. Mr. Right leaves the house around 8:30 am, gets to the rink at 9, does a workout for an hour in the gym then is on the ice for 1.5 hours, post game mini work out and has some food with the team (usually they get a catered something) then comes back home naps, plays video games, plays with the dog etc. Game days are entirely different and just have a pre-game skate from about 40 minutes. Any other questions that I can help with will totally be answered!
